Grace Eyre Planning for the Future (Sep)

Wednesday 22 September 2021

Renaissance Legal have been invited to present a Planning for the Future Webinar to parents and carers at Grace Eyre. Grace Eyre is one of the oldest charities in Brighton. They are committed to supporting people with learning disabilities, autism and/or mental health issues. They support over 200 people across Sussex to maximise their independence and achieve their dreams and wishes through independent living, employment and inclusion. Click here for more information.

Having an up to date Will in place goes some way to provide for a disabled and vulnerable loved one, however in some cases it has the potential to create further problems. If you or a family member are considering leaving money directly to a disabled and vulnerable person you can put them at considerable risk of financial abuse and you are likely to impact their entitlement to means tested benefits and social support. So, on Wednesday 22 September, Philip Warford will talk to parents and carers about the options available to protect their loved one using specialist Wills and Trusts. Philip will explain why it is so important to plan now, to safeguard their entitlement to means tested benefits in the future. How to provide financial security and support using a Trust.

Philip will explain:

Why it is so important to make a Will

  • Intestacy rules
  • Choosing Executors and Trustees
  • The importance of a Letters of Wishes
  • Making Gifts in a Will

Why use a Trust

  • When should you set up a Trust
