Merton Mencap – Wills & Trust Webinar (Jun)

Wednesday 16 June @ 10.00am

On Wednesday 16 June Philip Warford is speaking to parents and carers at Merton Mencap about Wills and Trusts for people with additional needs.

Merton Mencap is an independent, registered charity providing support and services for children, young people and adults with a learning disability and their family carers in the London Borough of Merton.

Philip will talk about how families can provide for a disabled person if they are no longer there to care for them using Wills and Trusts.

Although many people will already have Wills in place, a Will has the potential to cause financial difficulties for a person with additional needs. For example, by leaving a cash sum to a disabled person, it could impact their entitlement to means-tested benefits, now or in the future.

Philip will present the options available to parents to ensure their vulnerable child is protected throughout their lifetime and their entitlement to benefits are safeguarded.

Other topics that will be covered are:

  • Why it is important to make a Will
  • The different Trust options
  • Choosing Trustees & Executors
  • Your Letter of Wishes, how it works
  • Leaving Gifts in a Will
  • How to prepare for your Solicitor’s meeting

If you would like to book a place at this please contact Tracy Blackwell on 020 8687 4644.
