Thursday 24 March 2022 @ 6.30pm
Philip Warford is presenting a Decision Making for Vulnerable people webinar to parents and carers at West Sussex Parent Carer Forum (WSPCF).
WSPCF are an organisation that supports parents of children and young people aged 0-25 with additional needs and disabilities. They help to make positive changes to the lives of those families though training, information and support.
During this presentation, Philip Warford will talk to parents and carers about what the future holds in terms of decision making when their child reaches 18. The fundamental principle is that no one has the right to make decisions on behalf of a person when they become an adult. The reality of this is not so clear cut.
Philip will talk about the key principles of the Mental Capacity Act and the decision making process. He will go on to explain who can make Lasting Powers of Attorney, what and how they can be used. As well as what the Court of Protection is, what they do, timescales and charges. The webinar will take place via Zoom.
